as in, this is gonna be a random post.
i hate durians.
i cant stand the smell of it. kalau tengok gambar dlm newspaper sja buleh. haha.
but seriously. i lose my appetite and my face scrunches up into this tight scowl if i even take a whiff of this ghastly fruit. and during family gatherings at my aunt's or nini's, where they sometimes have durian, i become anti-social and haf to retreat to a bedroom and close the door.
even leaving the door ajar can carry the smell of durian to my hiding place. i just lose my appetite with that horrid smell! which puts me in a delicate dilemma.. coz sometimes, ppl serve them during a hari raya open house, or such functions that can still be called family functions, but not intimate ones. how then, do i retreat to the safe friendly air of an isolated room without being rude? actually, retreating is not an option. the best i can do is to stop breathing thru my nose and try to keep a straight face. which is quite hard considering how the smell puts my face into a permanent frown. and i have to talk in this nasal-y voice coz im breathing thru my mouth.
its a delicate situation. i reli dont wanna be rude and scowl at functions. when ppl try to talk to me or greet me during these times i try smiling back but only succeed in a half-grimace.
so just giving u guys a heads up. im not being rude, i just cant stand durians. so to be on the safe side, keep ur durian eatings private. coz i knw im not the only one who cant stand durians, even tho i tink im pretty much in the minority among bruneians.
and why the sudden post about durians, u ask?
becoz my parents are in the dining room eating their hearts fill of durian. (how 2 ppl who love durian can produce someone who hates it is beyond me).
and yes, im safely locked up in my bedroom. they make sure of that everytime a durian is gonna be within 10metres of me.
i have a blocked nose now anyway.
t-16 days and counting.
(lajutah gusti!)
