cells tagged me

Here are the Tagging rules:

1. Each blogger must post these rules.
2. Each Blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and read your blog.

8 random facts.. hmm.. gotta be stuff that doesnt involve my weight, boyfren and shopping bcoz i talk abt that like, all the time. lets see..

1.i love kids, especially little girls. not to be biased or anything, but i grew up with 6 brothers, so little girls fill up that missing little-sister-void for me. plus, im a girly girl, playing princesses and dressing up are so much more fun than playing robots and video games.

2.i love putting the effort into gifts/presents. i want the best for my loved ones =)

3.i have a guilty conscience. so i justify the mean things i do by thinking 'what would (insert person's name who i was mean to) do if the situation were reversed?' over and over again to make myself feel not guilty.

4.i believe that what comes around goes around. so i really do try not to be mean. i live my life by 'do to others what u want others to do to u'

5.i hate waiting, so i always try be ready early when i go out (refer to no. 4)

6.i love going to the dentist =D

7.hate travelling long distance bcoz my body aches all over easily.

8. i love mornings. coz u get more things done. and the cartoons on tv arent bad either ;)

now that ive done all that, i tink i've done this b4. but what the heck. and i'm gonna break the last rule by not tagging. shapa yg interested can join in.

happy new year everybody!

Q: How can Islam be called the religion of peace when it was spread by the sword?

continuing from Jirin's line of thought, yes facebook is useful for stalking. but its also useful for learning new things. look wat i found today =)

its by Dr.Zakir Naik and its quite an interesting read. thought i might share it here.

"It is a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force. The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam.

1. Islam means peace.

Islam comes from the root word ‘salaam’, which means peace. It also means submitting one’s will to Allah (swt). Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one’s will to the will of the Supreme Creator, Allah (swt).

2. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace.

Each and every human being in this world is not in favour of maintaining peace and harmony. There are many, who would disrupt it for their own vested interests. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace. It is precisely for this reason that we have the police who use force against criminals and anti-social elements to maintain peace in the country. Islam promotes peace. At the same time, Islam exhorts it followers to fight where there is oppression. The fight against oppression may, at times, require the use of force. In Islam force can only be used to promote peace and justice.

3. Opinion of historian De Lacy O’Leary.

The best reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword is given by the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book "Islam at the cross road" (Page 8):

"History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myth that historians have ever repeated."

4. Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years.

Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give the adhan, that is the call for prayers.

5. 14 million Arabs are Coptic Christians.

Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. For a few years the British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled. Overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.

6. More than 80% non-Muslims in India.

The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. If they wanted, they had the power of converting each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India are non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Indians are bearing witness today that Islam was not spread by the sword.

7. Indonesia and Malaysia.

Indonesia is a country that has the maximum number of Muslims in the world. The majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. May one ask, "Which Muslim army went to Indonesia and Malaysia?"

8. East Coast of Africa.

Similarly, Islam has spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. One may again ask, if Islam was spread by the sword, "Which Muslim army went to the East Coast of Africa?"

9. Thomas Carlyle.

The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book "Heroes and Hero worship", refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam: "The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and try to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can."

10. No compulsion in religion.

With which sword was Islam spread? Even if Muslims had it they could not use it to spread Islam because the Qur’an says in the following verse:

"Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error" [Al-Qur’an 2:256]

11. Sword of the Intellect.

It is the sword of intellect. The sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Qur’an says in Surah Nahl, chapter 16 verse 125:

"Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious." [Al-Qur’an 16:125]

12. Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984.

An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?

13. Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe.

Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe in Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?

14. Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson.

Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, "People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMED (pbuh) was born"."

things like these just make my hati sejuk, u knw wat i mean? =)

30 degrees celcius

thats the temperature in brunei when we first arrived at the airport. it was announced by a flight attendant upon touchdown.

i love it!

to think i came to heathrow at 7am in the morning at a temp of abt.. i dont know.. 3 degrees? it just feels nice that when i go out, i dont have to bundle myself up with thermal wear/tights/sweater/scarf/coat/boots dan yg sewaktu dgnnya. not forgetting having to bring a brolly everywere bcoz of the unpredictable english weather.

my luggage checked in safely without any excess and tho the in-flight entertainment wasnt available (sumthing abt a fire warning when they tried to switch it on), we all arrived safe and sound and happy!

my youngest 2 brothers are taller now. i swear theyve growned abt 3 inches since i left them in september. went to the gym today.. but i cudnt get in on some technicality. they said they'd get back to me by lunch time. sumthing abt my membership expiry thingy . i was so looking forward to sweating it out. so i came back home and cycled around my neighbourhood for abt 15mins (just to get my heart pumping and sweat a bit) with my 8-yr-old brother. i wudve been at it longer if it werent for the killer sun.

aaah.. the sun. its so nice and warm here. i'm not gonna complain abt the humidity either bcoz better humid and warm than cold and dry. at least here i dont have to slather myself with lotion every 2hrs or so.

and saving the best for last, will be seeing my other half in abt 2hrs =D we're having lunch but sadly, not in escapade as i'd wish. he's alredi made plans with his frens so im joining them. but maybe we can have sushi tomoro, he says. so thats enough. plus, i had my mum's cooking for breakfast today, so its good.

i hope they sort out my gym thing soon. all this prospective eating out and no exercise is a big no-no. too bad i left my yoga mat in uk. but watever, im home, with family and better weather, seeing my bf on an almost daily basis.. its a happy holiday to me =)

23 months

i was watching moulin rouge lastnite, which in my opinion is the best ever love-story movie of all times. that movie never fails to get me hyper, moved, touched and feel lucky at what i have all at the same time.

"the greatest thing you'll ever learn is to love and be loved in return"

"how wonderful life is when you're in the world"

"come what may, i will love you until my dying day"

=)

today's been a lazy morning so far. i watched the 'this morning' show and there was this part abt caring for carers (if i remember correctly) and in it they featured this man whos 75 who cared for his wife (71) who has alzheimers (sp?). it was the real life true story of the notebook. i've said before that i didnt cry for the notebook but watching that man cry on tv made me cry over my nasi goreng too. and he said 'i'm doing all this because i love her.'

now doesnt that touch your heart?

now go to all your loved ones and tell them how much they mean to you. coz you never know when that person will be gone. i tink alzheimers is much sadder because the person is there with you, but they're not really there. they're walking and talking and very much alive but they cant remember you. so seize this moment start appreciating your loved ones more and try not to take them for granted.

i love you. happy 23rd months.

lots of love,

shopaholic on high

this post is especially for bianca, who's one year away from being a twenteen as of ystrdy.

also dedicated to bread, ostrich and dragon ;p

i've started losing track of what day it is now that i dont have anything to do except sleep eat cook clean pray and shop. its the coolest feeling ever. altho i knw if left like this for too long like this i'd turn into a vegetable which was why i joined the gym back in summer.

anyhoo, there was a very fun event last saturday nite that i havent got round to update which was our xmas dinner. i didnt get to take pictures of the food bcoz i was so hungry but needless to say, the food was amazing! and what was more, everything was cooked from scratch. we had whole stuffed chicken, yorkshire pudding, sheperds pie, mushroom risotto and sticky date pudding served with caramel and cream and ice cream!!

to top off all that good food, we had great company, our surprise for a bday girl went well and played a good game of pictionary. and u knw why the game was good? bcoz the girls won over the boys... twice!

and ali keeps saying its bcoz they played with their eyes closed. sore loser =p what was cool was that the dice kept coming up in ones or threes so we had a long game going on and in the end it was neck to neck but anisah got the game in our hand so thank u nis!

saturday nite was a good break from all the work we had to do. a big thank u to atiq for his thoughful gifts to me and my housemates and thanx to ali for the desserts he got us and for bringing his siblings which made up for a very very entertaining nite. also to rezzy coz he took the best pictures =) i especially like the one where everyone was in one picture, kinda like a cover for the tv series or sumthing.

now that all our work's done its obviously shopping thats left to do. shopping for ppl back home of course. tho i havent started that yet. Jones was on sale, as an informer told me, and i got myself a pair of ballet shoes. gorgeous blue suede with chocolate leather buckle. i got a turquoise sweater from kew, a couple of plain tops from h&m and the most gorgeous lavender knee length winter coat from next.

3 more days left to shop and the 3 days will be dedicated for shopping for family back home =) i've got out my luggage alredi and i've started to put bits and pieces together so im all good. and im gonna be learning how to make sticky date pudding sometime b4 we leave so life is definitely good!

its funny how i can bake better than cook. i've mastered brownies and chocolate cupcakes and oreo trifle.. i'm gonna master sticky date pudding.. god my kids are gonna be fat. but fat chance my boyfren/husband will be fat at the rate his metabolism is going lol.

hehe but i still love u sweetie.

much love,

because i am a free woman.

almost there!

its amazing how i find time to blog during hectic periods of essay writing. anyway, i believe i need a break because the time lapse since i last posted have been quite a progressive one for me. and since today i've finished with my friday classes, i'm now officially on my writing week.

current situation: 2 essays down, one well on its way!

what a difference a couple of days make. altho yes, i do have that test on monday but im hoping to waltz it over. if i keep up at this rate i hope, insyaAllah, i can finish by monday, which gives me time to shop!

things are obviously looking up because of my decreasing workload. today is society's and my hse's secret santa. a few days ago i didnt have the energy to feel excited abt them becoz i was so tied down with the work i had to do but now i cant wait. i cant wait to see the faces of my secret santee when i give them the gifts i got and equally, i cant wait to see what i got from my secret santas!

i've also been fasting for the past 3 days now (hehe bcoz daylight hrs are shorter) and now i look at that law book cake in the previous post makes me wanna have chocolate fudge cake. maybe i'll get one as soon as i finish my work. shopping and chocolate cake.. yum.. not a bad ending for a stressful week.

i just hope i do get there by monday. in the meantime, i know many of u have workloads either heavier or lighter than me, but just hang on! which reminds me, aunty may texted me that jones is on sale. about 2 mths after i got my boots. oh well, i least i got proper use out of them for 2mths. i feel i have to justify my paying for the full price since now its 50% off. *sob*

anyhoo, this is just a random post to say that i am gonna be on the streets of whitefriars soon enough. oh em geeeeeeee!!

haha. the last sentence shud be read sarcastically. i dont knw wat im feeling. i still need to read up a bit more to finish up my essay because apparently ive left out a big chunk of what im supposed to be doing. im actually feeling a bit supressed, its like my excitement for the holidays and end of term cant get out yet bcause theres this HUGE red traffic light to stop me from going thre and instead i gotta do a u-turn to all this panicky shit.

ugh.

this is such a 180 from how i started this post. at least i've come to terms with wat i need to do next. not write more garbage just to make up the word limit, but read fitzpatrick's book again to make sense of it.

adios!

Wednesday, December 5, 2007

getting there

its 10 days and counting and my essay deadline is coming closer like a shark on the horizon =s

current situation: one essay down, another well on its way (i can prolly finish it by tomoro but the third one...

I'M COMPLETELY LOST FOR WORDS!

literally.

its funny how i enjoy the module but am a complete wreck when it comes to writing an essay on it. i've still got time tho, and at this point i guess im more worried about meeting the deadline than getting a good grade. tho at the rate im reading up, i shud just be given credit for a marathon reading of all fitzpatrick's work.

if only all law books were like this..

i've even resorted to sleeping with the book, hoping some of the texts seeps thru my brain through osmosis. doesnt work, obviously, but it definite makes me feel calmer abt the essay. i think its because psychologically, i believe i am studying my essay in my sleep.

hey, watever works for me.

and i have a test on monday that i havent revised yet. but i shall be depending on my GOG to get me thru that.

i'm at that point towards the end of a term where i know essays are looming but i cant help but wish it came sooner so i can get home sooner. sigh. i so cant wait to be in brunei. i checked my itinerary again ystrdy and we're not gonna be on the new 777. the 777 is like a myth in rba to be honest. they keep talking abt it but it never ever comes. so we'll be doing the standard flight and stopping in dubai otw. i hope my tv works on the way home.

on an unrelated topic, i just found out a fren of mine had a baby girl 2 mths ago. its her second baby and she just turned 20 in october. a part of me is happy for her (because i know she's got a nice caring husband) but another part of me cant help but feel sorry that her chance at higher education had to stop at 15. i thought marriages at that age dont happen anymore, except for the usual crash boom bang story.

oh well, i wish her well. at 20, shes pretty much settled in her life. personally, i see education as the foundational ground for stability and security. so to my friends, however much i moan and whine and complain or say enthusiastically about how i wanna get married soon, how i wanna be a housewife, i still see my education as priority. never in my future plans did i say i'd quit my degree in order to be a faithful wife. i always say i wanted to be a 'housewife with a law degree'.

haha. but to each his (in this case, her) own, i guess. whatever makes people happy, watever floats their boat.

that'll be me in.. 2 years' time? hehe

and im getting there too, insyaAllah. as soon as the boyfren is settled with his job and we have enoufh ker-ching for a wedding. haha. i never said marriage plans had to be put on hold until after my degree. though at the rate im saving, i tink i'd have to wait until after my degree. unless i change the magnitude of my dream wedding.

hmm...

okay im supposed to be doing essays. not thinking abt kawin. wish me luck (about my essay-writing, altho luck for my marriage prospects are much appreciated!)

much love,

new shoes

i am guilty of another extravagant purchase that i dont really need.

but im getting ahead of the story.

so i spent my weekend in london. it was the usual fun, a bit like an easter hols reunion bcoz azam, sanny, huda and imah were around. so it was karaoke nites for 2 nites in a row, friday and saturday. yes ppl, thats wat i do in london with frens. i go karaoke, i dont go clubbing =)

anyway, it was as fun as i anticipated. i met up with nav, but nav was really tired so she slept earlier than the rest of us.. which she claimed was around.. 4am? so the rest of us were reli reli up late. anyhoo, cits promised me a baju for me to wear (bcoz i didnt wanna wear mine and also coz hers are much voguer lol) so i needed new shoes and new tudong rite. to match the outfit.

so saturday morning (ish. we left at 1 i tink. it was morning at the rate we slept), i went to oxford and bond street with nav to get shoes and tudong. the thing is, i was a bit fussy with tie rack coz i knw hugeloads of ppl will be buying from thre bcoz

1. a number of the girls here dont wear tudong and the jemputan sed wear tudong (and i heard org london kana tagur awal2x abt this)
2. so all those girls will be buying from tierack bcoz its cheap.
3. and since everyone wud be buying there, i dint wanna wear an identical tudong.

anyway, i was set to go to elsewhere but cudnt find any that fitted my budget. hermes had some but they sell at a whopping 185quid. kalau catu baik ku bali kasut!

so i did. i went to faith and got a pair that was double the amount i set myself for shoes.mind u, that day i had been walking all over bond street and oxford street w/o any single purchase and i was hungry and cold and for a shopaholic to walk around without any bags on her hands is tres upsetting and mucho dissapointing.

so in faith, all i wanted was a reli nice pair of heels to make my day and bring me up 3inches taller ;) then luckily (or unluckily, however way u look at it), they had a promotion that the 2nd item goes fro half price. u think i'd let go of such a fabulous offer? so i got a clutch to go with my shoes.

so my outfit was set for sunday, except for tudong. back home, i asked anti tipah for a tudong which she gladly lent me. so i was set. and uh.. didnt touch a single law book or question the whole weekend. grrr!

unless u count the draft i made over azam singing and me being half-asleep.

on sunday, i met loads of ppl and took millions of pictures. facebook will tell u all that. but i dint take many bcoz my clutch was too small for my camera. i gave it to nav and we sorta separated sometime during the function. so there u go, i'd rather carry my clutch than my camera. but i looked awesome on sunday with the heels. haha. the only downside was my shoes were killing me towards the end (bcoz the whole function was done standing up) and in the end i cudnt even feel my feet. which was why when i took pictures with frens i insisted they take in the shoes as well so i actually get my money's worth.

i tink im one of those people who would kill for beauty. kill myself i mean, not other ppl =)

in the meantime, gudluck with the essay writing people.

much love,

lookin' up

thank u thank u dear Pablo for ur latest post. it gave me the semangat i needed to do my essays.

2 days ago, my situation was -sh*tloads of readings and zilch essays and watever.

today - 2 books down, 2 essay outlines out and one in progress. yippeee!!!

obviously i'd need to read the books again since i only did a skimming marathon thing just so i'll get the gist of wat peter fitzpatrick is saying. but pokoknya i think i get him better now and im not mental abt it anymore. the doa in the previous post must've worked too. thank u guyys!

so now, i tink wat peter is trynna say is that he believes law is imperialistic but not racist. hmm.. i'll need to get my head round that tho. haha bcoz theres still the many complicated law jargon but at least now i kinda get what he's at.

anyhoo, i woke up today all happy bcoz im not weighed down by my panic anymore. the weather looks fine today so im gonna go jog soon. as soon as my ipod finishes charging. hehe i was abt to go tdi when i realise my ipod's dead. so gotta revive the lil' baby before i go off to use up some happy energy.

my new shelf is arriving today too. today is looking up pretty well. and i've also heard 'through the grapevine' (i got this from my obs2 question. buleh they use words like that? bukan style lama kah tu?) that there are some juicy and dirty gossip about. wont talk abt it here obviously, and i shudnt feel too happy abt it since it concerns a fren whom i love dearly, but im a girl and im sorry to say, juicy gossip like this makes my day!

okay, adang kan mengumpat. now with my work almost out of the way im starting to look forward again to my weekend break to london. but im hoping it wont be an absolute break ie i wanna do some work over the weekend. i'll see most of u guys this sunday, yes?

last, but not least, i just wanna remind my special someone that i love u everyday =) cant wait to see u in december.

much love

dear 'exercise buddy'

i just read apip's blog. she went jogging ystrdy.

while i had a donut. TWO donuts actually. one from bake n' bite and another from tesco's, the custard-filled one.

damn u, pip!! i wanted to go jogging *sob*

i'd jog today but it says its gonna rain. 'shower' more like. sudah tah sajuk. boooooo.

i cant wait to get back on my treadmill with the view of jame' assr and watch E! news.

saya stress jua. pasal i dont bloody understand what peter fitzpatrick is trynna say and im suppose to write an essay about his critical legal work. not only do i have to explain wat his work is about, i also have to criticize his work.

critic 1 : unintelligible. should use simple english for thick daft ppl who dare take philosophy of law (ie me)

critic 2 : too complex. should use short sentences to convey meaning directly.

critic 3 : whhhhhhyyyyy do u have to have sooo many opinions on critical legal studiesss??

hmmpf. mentel bunyinya eh. maybe i can get away with saying those stuff. after all, steve said he valued opinions more than content. at least, thats what i remember..

i am waist-deep in work; 3 essays and 1 test in less than 3 weeks. and im squeezing a london trip this weekend. thank god theres 2 secret santas and the xmas dinner to look forward to. which reminds me, since i keep forgetting to ask bee, wats the menu for the xmas dinner?

now lets do this praying stuff again like we did last time

'Ya Allah, selamatkan Rabiatul Adawiyyah and berikanlah ia kesabaran dan bukakan lah mindanya agar dpt membuat kerjanya dengan aman, tenang dan lancar. Ameen'

thank u guys! esehmen. buleh jadi cigu malay bah nie lol.

donuts!

today is a historic day of all historic days. essentials have started selling their iced donuts again! well, they prolly sold them since last mth or sumthing but the point is, i got one today and it was deeelliisssh in every bite.

but the price went up from 65p to 69p. damn u donuts! last year it was 60p! they went up early this year but not 69p?? wat'll it be next yr, a quid?

i only got one, whereas last yr i'd usually get 2.. or 3. haha not bcoz of financial matter, but because of, erm, waist matters.

anyhoos, i also went up to the library and yet agen, someone had to help me get in. its a sign that me and libraries dont mix. i cant ever get into the templemen library w/o a fren, the security guard or the person behind me having to help me get in. bee says its like an exclusive niteclub, i need someone to get me in. which is sad reli, becoz i never reli liked the library in the first place. but this time, its a necessity. i dont think i can get away with not going to the library at all in the first term like i did last year. not if i want a good grade for my philosophy of law.

anyhoo, me and nis were talking about the library and why we dont like it. yes ppl, there are such things as law students and libraries that cant mix. for one thing, the library makes u study bcoz everyone else there has their nose buried in not just one, but usually 2 or 3 books, with more books piled high near them. that picture im not comfortable with. i need a relaxed environment to study and a bit of noise. i cant study with music on, but total silence is more deafening to me. i'd rather have the hum of my laptop or the faint music from jem's room than have total silence.

that said, i cant stand having other ppl study around me and be so quiet. how can so many people in one room not make any noise? the thing is, im okay with group discussions. talking, i can handle. silence, no!

plus, i was saying to anisah that its my competitive nature that drives me away from the library. the many students hidden behind books, instead of spurring my competitiveness, drives me away bcoz i knw that cant be like that. and i cant stand being the 'loser'. im not saying i cant be like that bcoz im lazy. im saying i cant be like that bcoz its quiet. and i get fidgety. i have to move all the time and that'll just annoy the others, wont it?

so i got to the library, got my books, and went out of there pronto. oh, and then i got my donut. yummy!

anyhoo, i've done enough procrastinating from eating my donut with absolute relish. u cud see this crazy gleam in my eye when i saw the donuts in essentials lol. i took my time this time bcoz i only got one and i dont wanna overdo the donuts agen, not unless i wanna be the size i was in may.

aand now that im done dissing libraries (or actually, the ppl who go thre) its time for me to bury myself in books. but this time, with the accompanying buzz of skype and the low hum of the radiator.

much love,

early weekend

i took the initiative to start my weekend early. i bunked off my friday classes.

actually, they're only lectures and they're online, so as long as i listen to them, i'll be fine.

so here i was, listening to ystrdy's lecture which i missed (i had period cramps, okay?) and then i found out the recording was only for about 2-3mins? nick jackson hadnt even got to the meat of the lecture. so now i dont knw wat im gonna do abt it. property is one of those modules that i cant help but hate. actually, hate's too strong a word. its just too confusing. and i thought reading abt it would help, but nooo` bcoz the author of the book decided it would be improper if we use a language that students could understand. we're gonna use the complicated confusing kind of language that will make ur life hell.

anyway, thats my take. but i knw some ppl do like, even love, property. so to each his own. bee, i knw u read this, so help me, pls!

besides property, i enjoy my other modules. family law is reli interesting, altho i dont knw how i'll do for the test in 3 weeks time. its an essay question, so i'll be depending on my GOG ie gift of the gob, which also means, cheat ur way thru bs-ing. but its reli fun bcoz some of the modules inter-relates, like family has a bit on property, stuff abt on divorce, how property is divided and etc.

obs2 is the most straightforward (in my opinion) of all my modules. what is obligations 2? its the art of suing. haha i dont knw if its just the evil in me who loves suing every lil' b*stard for every wrong they've done or if its my kesian natre to ensure the victim gets everything they're worth, but i love obs2 =D

now, my fave module of all so far, first year modules inclusive, is philosophy of law. sure, its a whole lot of gibberish and loads of metaphors but i like that all isnt all about facts but something deeper. ystrdy we went wayy deep in philosophy talking abt metaphysics and im sure everyone in the lecture room had reli bangang looks on their faces. steve (the lecturer) even went as deep as mentioning about islam and how ppl dont understand terrorists becoz they dont understand the religion. because today's society is all abt the physical that we find it simply crazy and bonkers when a religious belief is taken to that extreme. personally i tink suicide bombers are a bit extremists but being a muslim myself, i kinda of understand where they're coming. then steve went on abt how when the western ppl try to understand islam and read the Qur'an, more often that not, they convert. omgd THAT statement just made my day. i know im not a pious or maybe even that good of a muslim, but when i hear about new converts my heart just swells up with love =)

the problem with my lecture and seminar with steve ystrdy was that i was being attacked aggresively by my period cramps. so there i was in class, trying to sit still and not twist my body and having make do with clenching my fists and biting my lips to overcome the pain. but it was an interesting lesson nevertheless.

oh yes, i also left my file at my previous class b4 the one with steve, so i cudnt write any notes properly bcoz i had no paper. i wasnt biasa enuf with my seminar mates to ask for paper and the one person i biasa came late. i've been leaving stuff a couple of times now. first it was my bag, now its my file. cmon ppl, i actually left my bag! that is the one thing a girl NEVER goes without. in there is her lifeline, her fone, her money, her umbrella, her emergency Ms, her mirror!

but yes, i did leave my bag. i forgot. talur jua tu. and i've been feeling lethargic lately. i miss my gym so much. well its more the exercising that i miss. but now i gotta focus on my work and essays and i cant find the energy to fit both work and exercise into my schedule. im gonna go try jog tomoro tho. we'll see how the weather is tomoro. and how late/early i get up.

now i need to go research on my philosophy of law essay. looking forward to it! was planning to go to the library but i dont tink i wanna walk uphill in the rain.

much love,

i dont knw how it smells like tho. all i knw is that it contains rose, orchid, vanilla and liquorice.

sounds yummy tho! i hope it smells yummy. this'll be my present to myself for... i dont knw. haha

birthday present, anniversary present and surviving my first term of second year present. all rolled into one. considering the price of that bottle of perfume. yikes!

secret santa

we're going to have secret santa~

i knw the society is holding one but i havent been to meetings lately and i dont want ppl to think 'sudah ada secret santa baru dtg'.

so me and the housemates decided to do our own secret santa and we picked out names lastnite.

and i know exactly what im gonna get for mine. i just hope she doesnt buy it b4 i can give it to her =)

my workload is looking up too. all i gotta do is stay away from sex and the city. oh, and town, since im back on my shopping rampage.

to bilah, yes ur shoes are sexy! actually u knw what i did when i went to town on monday? i went to dolcis to check out the shoes that match ur description and i was right! haha. nanti ku shopping kasut. not the time yet. tho i tink i need wellies coz its been raining lately.

to everyone else, gudluck in writing essays and studying for those 1hour tests u've got during writing week.

to ka nadz and lydia, HAPPY GRADUATION! u guys will look gorgeous tomoro. show me pictures!

lotsa lurrve,

fabulous

i didnt go jogging on monday. but i did walk to town that day. lugging several shopping bags =D

shopping was just as good as i remembered. better, even, bcoz i was getting presents too so it wasnt an entirely me myself and moi thing. and even better, i found a the most fabulous fall jacket for only 15quid. 15 quid! from zara too. i love it when i find good finds like that. and it was my size too. so yes, i knw i dont need a fall jacket as yet bcoz the weather's too cold now, but i went ahead and bought it anyway. i can wear it on my trip back to brunei.

speaking of which, i cant wait to go somewhere where i can sweat! its been so cold here. i heard it snowed it birmingham and in warwick. snow in november!! thats gotta be a first. anyhoo, it just means that winter this year wont be 'mild' like last year. everybody's saying how this time around its colder and harsher and ive only been here for one winter, but u can just feel it. now it gets as low as 1degree and if i remember correctly, it didnt even reach that last year, even in december. so ive got 3 more weeks to survive this grueling cold and im out to sunny borneo.

on another unrelated topic, i saw syamim ystrdy. syamim is like, the shrinking girl of canterbury. she lost more weight and i dont knw how she does it. aku jeles. see, mim?? i am writing abt u here! haha apakan sakit hati aku ah. but seriously, i admire ur willpower. but i just go weak when i see chocolate and ice cream. and our fridge stocker doesnt help either =p seeing how she can eat 3 horses, 2 cows and 1 elephant in one sitting and still stay a size 4.

anyhoo, i better go. i woke up late today, at quarter to noon which is the latest i've woken up since i got here. and to think ive got loads of work to do today. but i just felt like updating this to tell ppl what a bargain i got for such a fab jacket hehe. oh yea, and i did some online shopping as well. but thats another story.

much love,

back in the game

im in a quater life crisis now. at least, i think i'm in a quarter life crisis. but then again, maybe thats just my pms talking. besides, what exactly is a quarter life crisis anyway? or for that matter, a midlife crisis?

anyway, i was feeling a bit down lastnite. i stayed home out of choice =) its my first weekend home since forever anyway. but i cudnt go to sleep lastnite and i cudnt exactly put my finger on what was wrong. like i sed, it may be the pms thre. bcoz i cried. i cried so hard like i havent before. i cried like the times i cried when i missed that someone. so i tink maybe i miss that someone; but he was right there on skype with me. which we all knw isnt the same thing as being there with u but then, there was no need to cry on rory's shoulder was it?

so it mustve been the pms. i went to sleep eventually and i had weird dreams about jogging. and keeping fit. i tink i feel guilty bcoz i'm just gaining back the weight i've worked so hard to lose. and anyway, i miss sweating. i reli do miss exercising and having my heart pumped from the adrenaline. so i woke up and decided to jog. turns out bee wanted to jog so voila! we hit a milestone and the 2 girls who had take-outs every other nite during first year went jogging on a sunday.

it was freezing tho. we were all bundled up, but i wasnt bundled up as much as i would be bcoz i thot jogging would make me hot anyway. apparently the wind was a bit strong today and i didnt feel warm. and my hands were freezing. ditto my ears. and i dint sweat at all =( i could feel my heart pumping after 5mins or so but no sweat, which was dissapointing. and we were starting to hurt in places that i didnt tink possible from jogging. okay, we both kinda felt dizzy, but thats prolly coz we didnt drink enough water beforehand. but my jaw hurt. how does that happen from jogging? and my tongue too. at least i tink its my tongue but its more the jaw. i told jirin and bee maybe its coz i talk too much?

then i remember maybe its my tongue pierce. so its coming off for tonite.

theres another jogging date with bee tomoro morning. that is, if she wakes up early. then after my lecture its town which equals shopping. its been 3 weeks ppl. at least give me a pat on the back for trying. and im only gonna shop for stuff for ppl back home. which kinda makes me technically still on my no shopping deal. altho i have to admit the stuff i plan to buy tomoro arent exactly necessary.

but hey, im in a 'qaurter-life' crisis. so i deserve to shop.

toodles!

procrastination sinks

well, that definitely doesnt go well together. 'sinking under workload' with 'procrastination sinks'?

i've done my obs2 assessment and my obs2 seminar work, but sad to say, i havent done any family law and i just about touched the tip of the property iceberg.

and that iceberg is the one thing that hasnt sunk in. instead, its the procrastination iceberg that feels the shake and is sinking down fast.

i've been on my laptop and trying to listen to property lecture12 for the last 75minutes or so. instead, i find myself window online shopping (yes, im still keeping true to my words of no november shopping besides the odd necessity), checking out presents for those special ppl for when i get back.

and i've also been chatting on msn with the (bf's) sister.

and here i still am, putting off my work and blogging instead of listening to the lecture. truth of the matter is, i reli need to get the lecture done by tonite becoz i need to knw abt proprietary estoppel for the seminar tomoro.

which is at 11am. and i have a 9 oclock lecture tomoro so i cant even squeeze in the lecture tomoro if i wanted to. in other words, it has to be tonite.

maybe its this no shopping ban i've put on myself. and havent been doing yoga on account that i've been in london. i've also been eating alot. which is actually code for 'yes ali i haf been gaining weight'.

this sucks. maybe shopping is more of a benefit rather than a detriment to me. i'd definitely like to think so.

i miss the pre-weight-gained, at the height of my shopping and yoga days me. in my gorgeous leather jacket, equally gorgeous leather boots and just-as-gorgeous DKNY bag.

ka nadz is coming tomoro. which also equals a visit to apip. that will definitely cheer me up muchos!

much love,

sinking under the workload

i miss u..

so i had my weekend of fun. my extra long weekend of fun and leisure. bcoz i came back on tuesday instead of the promised monday.

me and the many aunts cousins and nini went for dinner at lagenda on friday, followed by waffles where one of us got picked up by a nice nicholas saputra lookalike =p. saturday and sunday was spent baby sitting the adorable baby hana banana alias hana zahirah (who is so so cute!), watching tv (skye tv lgi tu. its funny that we've paid our tv license but we still dont get any channels) and out with bu ita and the baby for shopping! (bu ita, not me).

monday, the day i was supposed to balik and catch the 9oclock train back the ticket lady said i can only use it after 9.30. i thought, if i go 9.30, then i'll proly rush to my seminar. so i made an executive decision (esehmen) and decided not to balik. plus, i left the house w/o saying goodbye properly to my nini and she wasnt happy with me. so i came back and spent monday doind a bit of work (it was about time!) and a lot of shopping with syazwi. or rather, accompanying him shopping.

all this abstaining from shopping is having a sedated effect on me. i cant even feel happy for other ppl shopping anymore =s altho i got a glimpse of the LV bag that i have my eye on =D we went to selfridges and i gotta hand it to syazwi, his shopping puts my shopping to shame! but maybe thats coz i dont have my own credit card yet. altho truthfully, i dont plan on having one. bcoz at the rate i shop, its just safer to stick with paper than plastic.

so today im back in my comfy old room, which was freezing just a couple of hours ago. when did it start getting so cold?? my room usually feels stuffy with the heater turned up high but now i have it on high and im wearing my kent hoodie. i cant wait to balik december. warm weather, mate. and i dread thinking of going up and down the hill to go to classes in this freezin' weather. makes me appreciate the short length i had to walk when i still lived on campus. well, i've got abt 30days to go and then its back to brunei and my beloved gym.

anyhoo, as i was saying, i had 4 days of slacking and adorable company and great food (thanx cits!) but my weekend of fun and leisure did not sit well with my work load. as of now i have

3hrs worth of lecture to catch up
1 seminar work to catch up and another 2 for this week
1 obs2 essay of 1500 words due on friday

and last but not least. wat every uni students have to do, esp law students:-

bucketloads of reading.

i've got one case to read which goes on forever (specifically 12 pages) and the prior reading i have to do for seminars anyway.

oh, and i have to do all this b4 the weekend, mind u.

but yet, here i am blogging. at least i've done half of my obs2 essay. this is such a depressing ending.

this will cheer me up.

baby hana banana!

londres

i just realised i havent updated. this is the longest i've never updated since last easter, and that was bcoz i didnt have internet connection.

why? i realised that most of the things i write are so repetitive.

shopping. boyfren. yoga. shopping. boyfren. my workload. boyfren.

all sounds so superficial, ey?

but jirin said 'but u have readers nonetheless!' so im gonna update for the sake of those ppl, pebaik theyre only my ever-loyal-boyfren and my hsemate who lives just next door to me (thats you, bee).

so i tink i last complained abt my huge workload coz i've been slacking the previous week. fortunately managed to catch up and even squeeze in time to jln and hang around with syazwi, whose currently here on a visit. oh yea, thanx wi for lanja-ing me! hehe now im in london squeezing family time with baby hana banana. remember my little cousin whom i posted a picture of back in february? this is the same girl, even more melating-er and more adorable.

i will post up a picture of her soon. in the meantime, i just got called that a babysitter is needed downstairs so i gtg. ta!

much love,

sobriety of shopping

i have never resisted my shopping urges so much than in these last few days of november.

after reading that again, i just realised how much of a shopper i am. its only been 5days of november, 5 days since allowance came out and 5 days since i vowed to myself not to shop for, um, unnecessary things. to be more specific, i promised myself not to buy anything this month except for essentials, groceries and the odd meal out. and then i realise its only been 5days. and it feels like its been weeks since i last shopped. its nice to knw that my money isnt dwindling as fast as last month, but my heart just aches when i think of all the make-up (make-up brushes, gel eye liner) and toiletries (like pore packs, facial masks, epilators) that i wanna buy and i deem necessary but i know are in essential, just to satisfy my shopping whims. or my beauty whims. same difference.

thats being mature and adult-ey to u. being able to control ur whims. give me a pat on the back for this yes? i've never made so much of an effort or felt so mature ever. not even when i first cooked my own butter-milk chicken from scratch.

and predictably, i've been going online to see all the stuff i can buy but i won't. i just need to get thru november, then december i'll be drown by essays and humongous workload, then i'll be on the way home to brunei. i'll only allow myself to shop until after xmas break. lets see how well i keep that promise =)

all this no shopping talk is quite depressing for me. but i knw i need to cut down, unless i wanna be broke b4 my first job. plus, need to save up for my wedding!

now thats a topic i like. weddings.

but i'll keep it to myself.

on another note, sayang's bro just got into an accident. rezzy's got a sprained ligament which basically makes him housebound so i wish both u guys a speedy and healthy recovery.

fortunately, no shopping leaves me more time to do work. so thats good. altho i've been doing more catching up than plain studying coz ive been missing loads of my property lecture. nis and jem just got back from shopping and they got measuring scales and a mixer (so we can make cakes!) for the house and the complete 6 seasons of sex and the city! hurray!

maybe that will keep my mind off shopping. speaking of which, i've caught up with my usual dose of grey's and ugly betty. also on a list of distractions for myself (for lack of going out), ka nadz is coming to canters soon! she hasnt said when, but its definitely this month. so yayyy!

i'll leave u guys with this picture. my fave of the halloween bunches. bad ass fairy with sissy mafia dude.

much love,

back in the swing of things

i've finally finally got back into my old schedule. no more (really late) mornings, brunch and skipping classes. no more feeling tired, groggy or sick. altho i still have a bit of a cough in me. but my voice is slowly getting back to normal, no more 'drag queen voice' and no more 'ALEE ABAWBWAA~'.

org2xnya sja faham tu.

anyhoo, i've started doing yoga again AND studying and doing proper work for seminars. considering it was a wednesday, which is 3 days (minus the weekend) since reading week, its not good, but its sumthing. i finally feel the tingle in my brain saying its time. haha.

on the other hand, i think im a bit behind property law. who the hell gets property law?? and donald with his sexy eyes and dreamy voice doesnt help either. instead of making me and vanessa sit up and listen, he actually makes our minds wander off with his soft voice. he may haf lovely eyes, but they dont pierce u like u expect they would. like that guy in my family law seminar..

despite doing yoga, i tink ive been eating a lot more. maybe my body still knows its raya? i dont knw. but i got lots to look forward to this weekend. theres apip's halloween party friday nite, then jirin's open hse and vivi's open hse on saturday. plus, ali says shuk and the boys will prolly come over this weekend, so thats fun. aaaand today is first of november which obviously means that allowance is out! sadly, i spent all my quota on shopping last month so i wont be shopping this month. actually, my last month's shopping expenditure was actually 3 months worth of shopping. i hear the girls are going to primark/ashford and i'd love to join but hey, i'd rather have money in my pocket than burn holes in it. plus i'm going home in december anyway so i dont reli need to spend much then.

speaking of which, i will be united once again with my second love - the gym. i cant wait to wake up mornings and go on the treadmill while watching E! or travel and living, do yoga 3 times a week and do weights. and this time around it'll be different. bcoz my boyfren is finally back in brunei for good.

but first, i gotta get thru november and the killer essays early dec. then im off in the new triple 7 to brunei =D

much love,

reading week

it was wonderful!

spent one nite in london, went to gatwick and everywhere with him. came back to canters and slept over at his aunt's place so i was basically with him 24/7. we have breakfast, lunch and dinner together - i spent more time with him here than in brunei =) and the shopping! his uncle has a car so we got driven to bluewater and tkmax and ystrdy, after sending him off to the airport, we went to bicester village. lama sudah i tak naik kereta, u knw! it was like being back in brunei, going everywhere in a car, except the weather was uber cold. on top of that, i i didnt shop much (so i saved money), and on the things that i did buy, they were really really really good bargains. like the DKNY bag i got from bicester =D

plus (yes, theres more) i got to be with the two most adoooorable little girls who happen to be his cousins. remember i mentioned about little girls in my previous post? well its them. they're so pintar and speak with such cute lilting english accents and its adorable when they talk malay psl lacis2x u knw. lol. i mean, they're 4 and 5 so its cute when they do that. but it is NOT cute if ur over 12 bcoz it just means ur a snob. i beg ppl to differ.

plus plus (haha awu... i reli had fun waah), he got me another pair of swarovski earrings. with no persuasion at all. and he chose them for me too.

arent they pretty?

and thats why i love him. no, not bcoz of the material things he showers on me but the fact that he knows how and when to spoil me. believe me, i usually get a firm 'no' when i ask for something.

its sunday now, and tomoro its back to lectures. but i still got loads of work to do =s altho in my opinion, i spent reading week the best way possible, with no wasted second. i just didnt see reading as much of a priority since the bf only visits like, once in a blue moon. plus, aidah is here for the weekend and its nice. makes the transition of having a bf around to no bf again much easier. but now my feet's back firmly on the ground. its back to reality and listening to nick jackson's lecture that i missed last week. no use in crying over spilt milk. i saw (the boyfren), i spent (money in shopping) and i conquered (reading week).

haha. where was the 'i saw, i spent, i conquered' thing from? some movie or a line in shakespear i tink. bah gtg spend time with aidah now. i promise myself once shes gone i'll go spend time with my law books.

much love,

im gonna go wake anisah up now. shes got a full length mirror. plus i need a pep talk from her. aaand most importantly she told me lastnite i can wake her up just this once, so i knw she wont be pissed.

itchy fingers

i am itching to buy a pair of swarovski earrings.

but i've promised myself not to shop for 2 weeks. actually, wats stopping me is actually the fear of bianca slapping me. no, its actually the guilt of it bcoz i knw bee doesnt wanna slap me.

i'll get them when the boyfren comes.

no, silly, hes not gonna get them for me. i can get them myself thaank u very much. but at least with him around bee wont slap me. hehe

aidilfitri happy time

friday nite the raya feel finally sunk in for real. me and housemates plus apip and rezzy had rendang and lemang for supper. we usually dont have supper, but like how we all justify that second (or third) helping during raya, 'hari raya bah. biar tia mkn banyak. nanti baru diet'. haha. speaking of which, i havent done yoga since forever and im hoping to get it done today. see if im still as flexible as ever.

aunty may and uncle mahri had their open house ystrdy, we came over on friday but that was just a get together for first day of raya. but i bonded enuff with their daughter fauzah to make her miss me enough hehe. and their girls are sooo adorable with their english accents. i like little girls! not in any perverse way but bcoz i dont haf sisters so i never knew the joy and pain of growing up with sisters. so there i was, happily plaiting fauzah's hair and layaning her questions and games. tiring, yes. but fun. i soo want kids!

on nother, totally unrelated story... i finally got my boots that i've been eying since wednesday!! there was a little love story in it, mind u, me and the boots being lovers. i've waited and waited for THREE WHOLE DAYS contemplating and thinking whether i shud buy them or not. then ystrdy i found a cheque from uni that i havent cashed in. i mean, that was surely a sign for me to get the boots? so me and apip took a little detour on the way to aunty may's place to get boots. i went in Jones but i couldnt find them! have they dissapeared? somebody bought them alredi? i was like 'noooooooo' and so upset was i that apip had to hold my hand all the way back to aunty may's place.

i cudnt stay depressed for long tho. there was fauzah and sarah to layan and i had to admit, they took my mind of my heartbroken heart. then apip sed she needed new batteries for her camera so off we went again in town. on the way back we passed jones and i was adamantly avoiding the shop window when apip exclaimed 'rabz! bukan atu kan ur boots?'

i cudnt believe my eyes! so i wnet into Jones and announced to a very surprised salesperson

can i please haf those boots (pointing at the window) in a size 4 please?'

im sure my glee and excitement were obvious. the guy said 'treating urself ey?'. i guess they dont get many students shopping there, seeing as the place is quite pricey. but thats why ive been thinking abt the boots so much, whether it was worht buying them or not.

but now, i have the boots safely snuggled in their box inside my closet! i'd like to thank nurairah afifah for her endless support in my endevour for the perfect boots and lending me the money since i left my handbag at aunty may's when we went out for batteries. i'd like to thank the Jones staff for accomodating the boots in my size and last but not least, the maker of the boots for making such a sexy pair.

dramatic much? haha i wish it'll get slightly chilly so i can wear my new boots. haha sudah atu! its been quite warm since first day of raya. faham jua english weather kan raya kali. haha.

on the flip side, i knw the weather's lovely and its raya, BUT i havent done any work at all for 2days in a row and i shud catch up on the work. only one more week till reading week (which i doubt i'll use for reading) and till my sayang comes!

raya, new boots and my sayang. u cudnt blame me for being annoyingly happy and hyper, cud u?

much love,

selamat hari raya

wishing everyone an eid mubarak and maaf zahir dan batin. selamat hari raya to my family, my sayang and my housemates, including bee, who's currently trying to memorise one raya song =) the house is filled with raya songs and everyone's chirpy and happy and the raya feel is slowly sinking in. not the i-wana-cry-and-be-home raya feel but the -im-thankful-for-wat-i-have raya feel.

i've declared today as my public holiday on the basis that its the first day of eid hehe so i didnt go to my lectures today. BUT i did go to my seminar coz attendance is taken.

however, i do miss raya in brunei. im still waiting for my family to call me. i miss the raya lights in brunei..

raya lights~

hehe. bah i wanna be all hyper and prance around the house now. i feel good. haha selamat hari raya again!

wednesday

i dont haf any classes on wedsnesdays. therefore i dont need to go up the uni trail to go to classes and hence i am free to do whatever i want...

i met up with apip today.

so guess what happened? we went shopping like we've never been shopping before! we both reli needed the retail therapy, mind u, so dont judge us. retail therapy works for us!

all i can say is, the new coat, jeans, 2 tops and perfume are money well spent. and we had sungkai at little italy with the guys and yasmin. shes such a sweetheart. very adorable bah, mcm cameron diaz. u scored big, rezzykins. hehe

i feel content. i knw i shudnt be because of such material things, but i tink its a self-esteem boost. after all, after feeling so crappy lastnite, i reli didnt feel guilty at all for shopping so much. yes, i admit that i kinda went overboard today. i gave bee permission to slap me if i shop for the next 2 weeks. because the next 2 weeks will be a no-shopping time zone for rabz.

until the boyfren comes =D

yess, he might come next week. i'm so so sooooo excited! and hari raya's soon too. in 2 days kah? i didnt even realise how soon it is. siuknyaaa hari raya dengan boypreeen.

and i've done m work for tomorrow too. man, im on fire!

haha apakan.

much love, be'ah xxx

a few things before bed

i just got back from london and i am EXHAUSTED. so why am i still up, caring to even update my blog? becoz i just showered and my hair's wet and i dont wanna use my hairdryer for fear of waking up everyone else and i dont like sleeping with wet hair.

so here i am, waiting until my damp hair becomes less damp. im not waiting for a miracle here. it takes forever for my hair to dry naturally, especially in this weather. so i'll stay up another 30mins or so. theres also the hope that sayang mite be up and get online. i rindu him. its early in brunei tho and he called me tdi dah which was 1 in the morning there so i doubt he'll be up anytime soon. and i dont have the heart to text him bcoz i knw its annoying to be woken up by a text.

so how was my london trip? tiring. but i got to do what i had to do, except jumpa mary bcoz some stuff came up. saw imah's room (bigger than my room in becket court, so its HUGE), stayed at anti tipah's new place for the first time (smaller but cosier. plus they haf stairs now and the girls stay wayyy up in the attic bedroom so going up and down the flight of stairs is good exercise), met up with shuk and huda and paid my zakat. oh yea, one more thing i didnt get to do, get donuts to bawa back to canterbury. apparently they close early on sundays so yea. but i did manage to eat krispy kreme donuts on friday when i first came coz cits and aufa bought some so yea =D ali jeles tu coz i can eat donuts and still maintain my weight. haha.

remember about my vow not to shop? guess wat? i kept my promise!

until today, that is. i managed to not buy anything on friday and saturday but sunday ie today i came home with 1 zara shirt and a set of la senza pjs. my excuse is that theres no la senza in canterbury and that the zara shirt's not available in the canterbury branch. coz u knw how london always has more stuff yea. so in a way i dont feel all that bad coz my shopping's justified. kinda.

saturday i managed to stay out of shopping bcoz i more or less lepaked at home after seeing imah and aleem, bumming in front of the tv. they got sky tv so more channels la hehe. we came across this cartoon called happy tree friends and i dont knw who the producers are but they are sick. the cartoons basically about all these cute lil animals with hearts for noses and they get killed in all these gory disgusting ways. its a cartoon yea but my god its gory. i guess whoever invented it hated cute animals or sumthing. there was so much blood. the cartoon wasnt even 3-d but it was disgusting. look it up on the net abt happy tree friends. that name is so misleading.

on another note, i miss my boyfren. nothing new thre.. but its been 2 mths since i last saw him and well.. i reli miss him. aku jeles psl shuk's in brunei and gets to see him. i hope i can balik in december. or he can come here. whichever la. i just wanna see him.

buuuuuut thats all just hopes and wishes and ish. yea i can handle this whole long distance thing but being able to handle it and doing it for more than a year doesnt make it any easier. but obviously im coping. coz its all for the best kan? coz nanti kami jadi power couple with the happiest most romantic relationship ever and the wife has a million shoes and her own walk-in shoe closet. hehe kan sayang?

my hair is taking forever to dry. and im sleepy. gdnite ppl. 1 week till raya. im still figuring out a good date for our house's open hse. still need to discuss it with the hsemates jua. haiya maaaa~

selamat hari raya ppl. maaf zahir dan batin.

much love,

=D

i cudnt find a title that justifies how im feeling right now. i finally finally got my debit card ystrdy (altho no pin number yet) and ali paid me for his law books ystrdy so u can say i had a windfall of cash.

result?

one very sexy leather jacket and an uber-vogue bag from zara and two pairs of shoes from qube - black ankle boots and white flats.

the shopaholic in me is alive and kickin'!

i've never felt so happy in my life! haha superficial u say? sorry but i havent been shopping for eons ie 2weeks and i needed the new stuff. actually, the things on my list were just new shoes and new jacket but wats an extra pair of shoes and another handbag, ey? anyway, last weekend my house got a flyer saying if we wanna get rid of our stuff like clothes perfumes etc all we had to do was put the stuff in a box outside our door with the flyer attached. so how cool is that? this means i can get rid of the stuff i dont wear and need anymore, giving more space for new stuff! and to be frank, i need new jeans bcoz my waist in now... 2 inches smaller than it was last year! i mean, that is one solid reason to buy new jeans, u knw.

pluss.. i haf a new shopping partner - apip! homaigod it feels so good to haf that certain chemistry with a fellow shopaholic. i mean, bee usually needs convincing when she wants sumthing coz she'll go shud i get it its too expensive i alredi haf suthing like it etc etc (bee, i knw u read this and u knw this is true!) and nis prefers shopping alone but with apip its like, grab anything and everything u think is lawa and that'll fit u and lets go to the dressing room! but hopefully this wont be a habit since i need to save cash jua. ingat kaya sangat aku ah. lol. but i guess we can do with a bit of window shopping...

speaking of which, thres gonna be a special students sale at topshop next week. cant wait. altho there'll be ramai orang and i cant stand pushing ppl around and having too many ppl in such a little space. i cant even stand boxing day. but i found a pair of jeans that i want in topshop which insyaAllah i will get next week. theres also another jacket i want from zara. haha.. liat la how it goes next week. i feel like shopping for the house jua. give it a few more quintessential homely touches. but i'll have to wait and see how my weekend trip in london will turn out. im vowing not to go shopping tho, not because of any substantial reason but because malas mengangkut the stuff from london back to canterbury.

on the still-developing-health freak in me, the ever-sacrificing apip has also volunteered to be my exercise partner. something that we're gonna start as soon ans ramadhan ends and when she gets her exercise gear. make that asap pip! i'll make sure u have an outfit by the end of this month.

sooo.. all this good news and new stuff, i just had to celebrate. me, bee, apip and the boys had sungkai at wagamama's which was every bit as good as i remembered. i had the chocolate fudge cake for desert too. i havent been doing yoga since i've started fasting but im hoping the twice hike-up a day to uni (and walks to town) suffices as my daily exercise regime for now.

i haf class in about 2 hrs and i think i need a lil' lie in before i mandi. im glad i finish my work for this week la. altho i need to get a start on next week's bcoz of my london trip. cant wait to see imah and mary and the sulia girls!

much love,
be'ah xoxo

p/s telefon baru c jirin lawa. shud i get a new fone now..?

nerd vs shopaholic

i spent the whole weekend reading up on property, family and tort law.

with a couple of hours breaks in between to watch friends and scrubs of course.

ooohhh and theres the new grey's anatomy and ANTM cycle 9 is out. i'm rooting for lisa. she's one hot exotic dancer ie stripper of a wannabe model.

this whole no debit card thing is getting to me. i cant even get an innocent pair of shoes from qube, or a nice coat from zara or a cute top from topshop. i cant even afford a trip to london yet :s so there i was, on saturday and sunday, in my room doing work and bumming in front of the tv. i'd have to say that bumming in front of the tv didnt reli appeal to me, proly bcoz thats how i spent most of my 4mth long summer vay-kay. i mean, yes i went to the gym but even so i watched tv while on the treadmill. thres only so much E! that a girl can take! so it was to the books i drowned myself in. it felt good tho, no more utak buntu, i'll say!

so i guess this is the second good thing coming out of the debit card fiasco - i am actually studying and doing my work, not because its due tomoro or theres a test, but because i have nothing to do. and u knw wat? it feels good =) i just hope this good-feeling from studying follows me thru all the way to exams and to third year. altho i doubt it once i get my debit card haha. i cant believe i've been here for more than a week -2 weekends - and i have not stepped inside h&m, zara or topshop. that, personally, makes me deserve a big box of krispy kreme which nobody managed to get me =p kidding~ i'll be going down to london next weekend so i'll get my own box of donuts.

which reminds me, if im going to london, i'd need to do extra work this week since i wont be doing anything substantial during the weekend...

omgd. did i just say that? i sound like bianca! haha oh well, its good that im in a rajin mood. pray that this will last for me, ppl! thats the least u guys can do, considering i'm a donut-free girl at the moment.

much love!

first weekend

my bloody debit card still isnt out yet. did i mentioned that last week it got retained? no, not bcoz banyak hutang but bcoz i changed address and forgot to tell them so they obviously thought i died or sumthing. pokoknya they sed it'll be ready within four working days and its now 5 bloody working days. i went to the bank and she sed

'im sorry but its taking awhile. perhaps u'd like to come again next wednesday?'

of course i bloody will. bcoz w/o that card, i cant withdraw money. thank god i haf cash from brunei.

one good thing came out of this debit card fiasco tho, so im not that bloody pissed. and aku sja put bloody in every word bcoz its not exactly a swear word innit? aku sakai :D anyhoo, without me debit card, my shopping expenditure is less. eating out pun i order stuff thats half the price of what i usually do, but still kanyang jua. i knw students shudnt be eating out but its puasa so leave me to be. anyhoo, 2 days ago we went to ashford, crazy shopping place where the motto is guilt free shopping. well i shopped alrite! but bcoz i was using cash and not my debit card, controlling the ker-ching was easier. but i did manage to get myself a pair of skinny jeans (finally!) from levi's.

and today, when i went to the bank and got the bad news, u'd tink i wudnt go shopping bcoz of dwindling money resources. well, i did the opposite. i needed a pick-me-up. mind u, nothing expensive. im not that frivolous of a shopper, or if u may, shopaholic.

classes are going well. i almost dozed off during property law yesterday. how the bloody hell do u expect students to concentrate if u haf a lecture in a cinema? a full out cinema with black carpet and walls and a huge screen (which of course wasnt showing a movie but the lecture slides) and comfy chairs? the only thing missing were cup holders and the lecturer sed they were thre, only hidden by some sort of pull-out thingy i expect. so there i was in property, having to shake my head several times to stop myself from having a nap. the guy across the aisle for me wasnt even trying, he fell asleep 15mins into the lecture. and this was our first substantive property lecture. cant imagine how it'll get better. however, the first substantive tort lecture went well (prolly cause i did the reading) and i felt so proud of myself for not being bangang and not having to sneak peeks at anisah's or bee's notebook. faimly law and philosophy of law, i'd have to see. but so far reading for family law, i like it. and philosophy of law is done by steve pethick anyway, so i shud enjoy it.

but i've met most of my frens from last year. good to see everyone, especially teh guyd from my corridor last yr. well i've only seen dave and matt coz they do law with me, but its nice to be missed =)

hmm.. wat else? its saturday and everyone else dissapeared off to london i tink. except my hsemates. or maybe bee went off to london alredi. but jem and nis went out so i'm left house-sitting. which isnt bad bcoz i can wear watever i want around the hse haha =p it a warm day today so yea. im still thinking of wat to haf for sungkai. i wanna cook chicken but sayang since i'll be eating alone. its more fun eating chicken with other ppl. so maybe i'll haf maggie. tho i haf absolutely no craving at all for maggie. but watever fills my tummy, kan?

u ppl in london better come back with krispy kreme. i will love u forever if u do that. this especially goes to ali. we can eat donuts while crita-ing. and i promise they wont put more weight on u. just come over to my place (and as u keep saying, the walk's a bitch alredi) and we can do yoga together hahaha.

kidding. just somebody, anybody! come back with donuts for me. please. essentials dont stock my donuts anymore ='(

happy fasting everymore. another couple of weeks till raya right?

much love, be'ah xxxx
